Vacation, Had to Getaway

Like my tribute to the Go-Go's in the title of this blog?

Tomorrow morning we are leaving for the Austin, TX area for a much needed break from our daily lives. We're going to spend almost a week with Clay's folks at their house and go see some sites around town.

I'll leave you with Courtney's newest trick. If you say, "Stinky, stinky!" she'll hold her nose. Pretty darn cute!

Now...if I could just motivate myself to pack for me and Courtney.

See you next week!

Memorial Day Weekend

Summer is finally upon us and what better way to ring it in than Memorial Day weekend.  It was an eventful one for us and we enjoyed every minute!

On Saturday my best friend, Meredith, and her little boy, Trey, came over for hamburgers and swimming. I purchased an inflatable pool for Courtney and Trey helped break it in. If you've been around Courtney, she isn't one of those kids that is fearless. She has to observe the situation and then decide if she wants to participate or not. Trey on the other hand was all about the pool!  We put Courtney in the pool, but she didn't want to sit down. Which was fine. It made drying off much easier!

One of my new favorites!

Is this not precious?

Yesterday, our niece, Kelsi, came over for the afternoon. She and Courtney had a great time playing with one another.  They especially loved the indoor jungle gym (aka Clay).

Last night we went over to our friend's, the Reed's, for a cookout with friends.  Our other friends, the Goode's and the Cobb's were over as well.  All of us have little girls (Tri Delta legacy's as we like to call them!) and we had so much fun playing with all five of them.  We attempted to snap a group picture of them and this is the best we could capture.  They were all over the place!

From the left: Morgan, Claire, Courtney, Jamie and Jacey.

Enjoying the outdoors!

We hope all of you enjoyed your long weekend. We also hope you took sometime to reflect on why we have this holiday.  For my family and friends who are active or retired military, we thank you for your dedication to protect us.

Almost There....

In less than 48 hours I'll be on summer vacation. Can you tell I'm just a tad excited? My students asked me what my plans were for our break.  I proudly told them that
for 3 months I get to be nothing but a mom to Courtney. I expected at least a few of them to say "Awww....", but to no avail.  Oh well.  In 20 years (I hope!) they'll get it.

It's been a roller coaster year, but I've come to love my 23 knuckleheads.  For those that haven't heard the news, I'm moving to 3rd grade next year.  At first I was hesitant, but I mulled it over and decided that I was up for the challenge.  For an added bonus, my teacher/friend Melissa is moving to 3rd with me. The downside is that I have to pack up my room. Thank goodness I have little worker bees that find joy in helping me out!

Enough about school! Here is a pic we took of Courtney last week while she was munching on breakfast. We can officially get her hair in pigtails.  Now if she
would just keep them in!
Did I mention my summer vacation is almost here?

Mother's Day Part II

My second Mother's Day has been so nice! Clay made me strawberry pancakes for breakfast and got me a really pretty bouquet of flowers. As we were eating breakfast, I told him I still don't feel like I should be celebrating Mother's Day. It's still new to me! However, I feel truly blessed with Courtney in my life. I couldn't imagine it without here. Here are some of the cute things she's been doing lately:

1. I love how she'll stop whatever she's doing to dance to music on the television. She loves her music!

2. We're now in the beginning stages of having a conversation with her. I can ask her questions and she'll nod yes or no for me. It's great!

3. She loves to read just like me! I kid you not, she'll come up to us, shove a book in our hand and try to climb up in our laps.

4. Car rides are fun now! Now that she can face forward, we've had many rounds of "Where's Courtney" on our way to school in the morning.

5. She loves her cousins. Her and Kelsi love to hold hands and give hugs to one another. She's even called Brandon "Bubba" after hearing Kelsi call him that.

6. Even at 15 months, she still loves to cuddle. I hope she never grows out of that. After a rough day with 23 10 year-old's a good hug from her makes it all better.

This list could go on forever, but we'll leave it where it's at. In the meantime, here's a pic of our ladybug during our outing to the OKC Arts Festival.
Happy Mother's Day!
